My talk on authorship has made waves

Posted on 17/04/2019

After speaking to Fabulous Networking Winchester last Thursday, I received this fabulous testimonial from Group Leader, Felicity Dwyer:

"A huge thank you to you, Nick, for your highly informative talk giving tips to authors, and for the exercise, which brought up so many great ideas for books. I was truly blown away by the ideas that came out of that exercise. It would be wonderful if some books came into being as a result of your session.”

My talk is based on my experiences in writing my latest book, "Feel it as a Man: a fool's guide to relationships". Although I am a writer by trade and I have written several books in the past, I received excellent advice and mentoring from my publisher, Mindy Gibbins-Klein. AKA The Book Midwife, founder / CEO of Panoma Press. My talk offers more than 20 tips on the process of writing a book, from brainstorming the topic, to preparation, and through drafting and re-drafting to the delivery of the manuscript to the publishers. Then you have profreading, final tweaks and approval of the design and layout before publication.

For me, the process began in December 2017, the first draft started in January 2018, with delivery on 23 April and publication inSeptember last year. It is true that many people, if not everyone, has a book in them. You need a good topic, a process, persistence and the pugnacity to fight off your inner critic.

You and your group can benefit from the tips and the exercise which opens the door to would-be authors.
