The 3 Key Steps to Take When Marketing Your Website Online

In business, we all know how important it is to have a website to send your customers to for information about what you do, however lots of businesses today are still unaware of how to market their website in order to capture new business.

The internet is now the place to go when your ideal clients are searching for your services, so the questions is can your customers find you?

Whether you are creating a small local business website, a simple blog or huge corporate site; there are three basic principles that you need to follow if you want your marketing to be successful.

The main objective for most websites is to reach page 1 in the search engines for your top keywords that your customers are searching on.

Reaching page one will increase traffic to your website, resulting in more sales for you. This is achieved through implementing effective search engine optimization (SEO) techniques.

1. There are two types of SEO techniques: on page and off page.
Off page SEO is the art of building quality inbound links.
To build inbound quality links to your website you will need to:
- Create lots of fresh high quality relevant content.
- Submit your website to on-line directories such as Google Places.
- Write articles or guests posts on other relevant websites.
- Most importantly; never borrow, beg, bribe or buy links as this may kill your ranking entirely.

While off page SEO is the most important type of SEO, your website will still need a huge amount of on page work as well.

There are many other considerations that must be made when it comes to on page SEO for instance:
- Where to place your primary keywords.
-How to craft the keywords into the body of your content.
- Include keywords in the file names and alt tags of all images.
-Include keywords in the URL
- Most importantly; write for humans and not the for search engines.

2. The next goal of marketing your website is to build a customer base, collect information and make sales.

Once you have built effective SEO and you are getting traffic to your website, you will need to find ways to connect with your customers in order to collect information and create selling opportunities. A great way to do is through the use of effective social media marketing.

Social media helps to build interest in your brand and encourages social engagement between your customers and your business.

Here are some things you can do to improve your website design and customer engagement.
- Use Graphics and Videos
- Create Opt-in forms with offers / give aways
- Offer deals and discounts

3. Lastly use local internet marketing strategies.
Website owners are often overly concerned with creating an effective on line website they forget about the brick and mortar aspects of their business. These local elements need to be integrated into the website design and SEO.

This can be done quickly and easily:
- Invite customers to visit your location by offering special deals and discounts.
- Encourage your friends and family to promote your business on line through their social media. Word of mouth is and always will be the most effective form of advertising.
- Take pictures and videos of your location and post them online.
- Use QR codes and mobile strategies to link your local business to the online world.

Applying these three simple rules to your marketing website will improve its chances for online success
