The Wake-Up Call

Posted on 24/04/2012

Money is a very sensitive topic indeed and very few people like to talk about it. As women its important that we do not ignore our finances and the life it could give us or the one it can hold us back from living.

I recently read an article, stating that women spend far less years working than their male counterparts. There are a number of reasons for this. Taking time off to raise a family is the most common for the differences in those years. Most women live longer than men and earn less than they do. This reveals that we will need more money over a longer period of time.

If men earn more and have longer opportunities to work then it means we as women have to be creative with our income and find more opportunities to increase what we earn. Possibly in some cases outside the workplace.

This ought to be a wake-up call for us as women. We need to stand up and seriously take a look at where our financial lives are heading. If you know you are operating on shaky grounds then its time to take the bull by the horns and pin it down.

Lets first go through a few questions that might give you a clue to how well your life is going financially.

  • Does your current income comfortably provide for your present lifestyle?
  • Are you living your financial dreams?
  • Are you prepared, if your job or source of livelihood is threatened or cut off?
  • Do you need to rely on credit to meet your monthly needs?
  • Are you a woman with a family?
  • How much of your earnings go toward their upkeep?
  • Do you spend less than you earn? Can you take an early retirement?
  • If you run your own business, can you afford not to go into work each day?
  • Do you work because you want to or because you have to?
  • Overall, are you satisfied with your earnings?

Now, that Ive given you a few things to think about. Did any of the questions strike a chord?

What are you going to do about it? Do you need to pay more attention to where your money goes?

Youve got to get your finances working for you.
